The predecessor of the World Digital Economic Organization (WDEO), formerly known as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Economic Cooperation Organization (UNSDGs), was established in California, USA, in 2013. Following years of development and effort, the organization received formal registration with the United Nations Economic and Social Council on September 19, 2016, becoming a non-governmental international organization.

In November 2018, the organization underwent significant reforms and development, officially renaming itself as the World Digital Economic Organization (WDEO), headquartered in New York, USA. In accordance with the spirit and provisions of Article 55 of Chapter IX and Article 71 of Chapter X of the United Nations Charter, WDEO aims to advance, coordinate, and serve activities related to digital economic development within the framework of the United Nations. As a non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO), the organization's mission is to construct a new global digital economic ecosystem and provide a solid foundation for the flourishing development of the global digital economy.

WDEO envisions itself as a driver of global digital economic integration. Through establishing close collaborative relationships and promoting innovation and application of digital technologies, the organization is committed to breaking down barriers to digital economic development, facilitating cross-border digital exchange and cooperation, and bringing forth more opportunities and growth for the global economy.

In its future endeavors, WDEO will continue to play a role as a bridge and link, contributing to the prosperity and sustainable development of the global digital economy.
